Down To The Wire

Hey Guys,

We've been fighting for this for a long time, and it's finally coming to a head. This very weekend, the House will cast a final vote that will send comprehensive healthcare reform to President Obama for his signature. Yes, there have been bumps in the road, but we're about to accomplish what this country has been trying to do for decades, and its a big step in the right direction. We're going to make healthcare affordable to all and accessible to all.

You know that no step of this process has been easy, and the last one won't be either. The House vote, due Sunday night or early Monday, will be very, very close. Your congressmember may be the one who decides it. That's why I'm asking you to take 2 minutes out of your day this weekend and call your congressmember, no matter who he or she is, and ask them to support this bill. If you want to know where your representative stands right now, I recommend the whip count at firedoglake.com. If you need to find your representative, go to www.house.gov, and enter your zip code. The enemies of meaningful reform are out in full force this weekend. Let's make sure our voices are heard loudest, and that President Obama gets this bill on his desk.

Good night, and good luck.

Bating Republicans PDF Print E-mail

Are you ever feeling kind of down, or had a long crappy day? Or how about just want a good chuckle.

Well that's why I've invented a new sport, "Republican Bating."

If you ever want some good fun pop on facebook and find the craziest republican you know. You DON'T want just the hardcore conservative who you don't agree with but respect, because their ideas are cogent, understandable, and they can articulate them without resorting to name calling. For true entertainment value you want a "real America", Sarah Palin, grade A, crazy.

Now, you may ask, what comes next?

Well, chances are they have a crazy un-coherent conservative Facebook status (in my informal polls, I've find you have a 98% success rate with that), so start commenting, and this is where the fun begins. If not, begin the bating with a wall post.

Whatever the case, start out slightly ridiculous to get them going good, and as they get more and more ridiculous, here's the key. You do the opposite. As you raise their blood pressure, and they say things that they think will make you mad, write back with smiley faces, jokes, and calm, cogent, sane, points. As their stress levels shoot up, yours come down as you're chuckling. It's not just fun, it's therapy.

And it's really good therapy because not only does it help you; it also drives them mad and makes them even less effective Republicans, because now they're stressed and spending their time and money in therapy and at the doctor on blood pressure medication.  The only downside - once healthcare reform passes this form of therapy won't be as effective in reducing Republican donations.

Enjoy the handout at our 3/22/2010 meeting guys to see a prime example of how it's done.
